Nielsen Realty Group Blog has real estate tips and tricks for home buyers and sellers from Plymouth County real estate agent Derek Nielsen

So to help kick things off, we thought we’d share the results of a recent Fanni Mae report about the average first-time homebuyers’ credit score being 746. One tip for first-time homebuyers is to focus on improving your credit before trying to buy your dream home. If you want to buy a house and increase your chance of getting the best mortgage rate, consider improving your credit score to about 750 or above.

The minimum credit score required for a conventional loan is 620. So don’t be discouraged if your score is below 700. But as stated above, the higher your credit score, the better loan rates you will be offered, which means paying less money for your dream home. So whether you are looking to buy a house in Plymouth, Taunton, Boston, or anywhere else in Massachusetts or around the country, you want to be mindful of the minimum credit score required for a conventional loan as you begin your home buying journey.
